  7. Since hydrogel lenses are soft and flexible they take the shape of the cornea and usually do not have any significant tear lens.  Therefore, no power is added by the tears.

  9. This means that with a spherical soft lens on the eye the patient will have residual astigmatism equal to the spectacle astigmatism.
